Fedor vs. Choi; Why? Part #1

Cho’s record coming into the match: 1-0 Fedor coming into the match: 27-1 (NC:1)
Clearly a mismatch/freak show that had nothing to do with mixed martial arts. Yet, had everything to do with what’s wrong with the UFC, Dana White, Zuffa LLC, MMA events in general, and the exploitation of fighters at large. What it all breaks down to is what almost everything breaks down to on earth… money. For mixed martial arts it’s like the opening of the wild, wild, west. For the people in power it is a goldmine. All done while exploiting those who risk their lives to bring this white hot entity into our homes via pay per view television, and for even more profit by the providers of these events, via recorded replays of events.
The UFC has been aggressive in buying out other MMA promotional companies, the most prestigious being the Pride Fighting organization in a clear attempt to corner the market..

Fans, like me thought that finally we would see the best of the best fight each other. That is until the Elimenko fiasco. UFC thought they had the market under their control, but this is one fighter who may go down as the “Curt Flood” of MMA. The MMA world wants Elilmenko vs. Couture, but there will be a huge fight to make this fight happen, if it is ever staged. The two best fighters, at the top of their games, could possibly never come off. After these two fighters at the heavyweight level, the skill level drops dramatically after these two fighters. Think professional boxing and you’re on target. You’ve got the cream of the top in maybe four fighters, then after that the smell of sewage follows the rest.
For those who have never heard of Curt Flood. Let me make a long story short. Without him there wouldn’t be an Alex Rodriguez, Mariano Rivera, Eric Steinbach, Al Jefferson, or, even Ray Emery. You may have not heard of these athletes, but they make far more than any MMA gather on the planet and while they face the realization that their career could be over in a matter of seconds, (They also don’t have to worry about incurred injuries while training for the upcoming events). They don’t have much worry about their lives being terminated training for, or during the events that occur, because there is compensation language in contract; if you die training for or, fighting an MMA event, your family is fucked!
Curt Flood was a great baseball player who had played out is contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, (Major League Baseball) from 1958 until 1969. Curt Flood’s career was cut short, at the peak of his career, for standing up to the powers that be in the best interests of not only himself, but other athletes. He was blackballed for his efforts from professional baseball, but paved the way for professional athletes across the board, in any country. Please ready about him:
